Stop guessing at the mall. Easily figure out the final price of an item after applying multiple store discounts, cash coupons, and your local sales tax.
When a store offers "20% off plus an extra 10% off," it does NOT mean you get 30% off. The second discount is usually applied to the new, already-discounted price. This template handles that math perfectly using chained calculations.
1. Open the template in the Simple Sheet app.
2. Enter the original Base Price on the tag.
3. Use the first row for the store discount. Make sure the "%" toggle is active (red), and subtract the percentage (e.g., - 20%).
4. If you have a flat coupon (e.g., $5 off), turn off the "%" toggle and subtract it on the next row.
5. Finally, use the "%" toggle again on the last row to ADD your local sales tax.
A: In most regions, sales tax is calculated on the final purchase price after all percentage and store-based discounts have been applied. However, manufacturer coupons might be taxed differently depending on your state.
